iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro orders cancelled in Flipkart Big Billion Days sale; buyers call it a ‘scam’

Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale is facing backlash as iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro orders are being cancelled after payment, with angry buyers on social media calling it a “scam.”

The Flipkart Big Billion Days sale has triggered widespread frustration among buyers after reports surfaced that iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro orders were being cancelled without warning. Customers allege that even fully paid orders were rejected hours after placement, prompting many to call the incident a “Flipkart scam.”

Discounts that drove demand
Flipkart listed the iPhone 16 (128GB) at Rs 51,999 and the iPhone 16 Pro (128GB) at Rs 69,999. These offers went live for Flipkart Black and Plus members on September 22, before being opened to all users on September 23. The prices sparked a rush of orders, with many customers seeing it as an opportunity to buy Apple’s newest iPhones at lower rates.

Orders cancelled despite payment
However, buyers soon found that their excitement was short-lived. Several netizens reported that their orders were cancelled within hours despite successful payments. On X (formerly Twitter), one customer wrote, “I’ve placed 3 full-paid orders on Flipkart, only to have them rejected and cancelled within 4 hours. This feels like a scam!” Another user posted, “@flipkartsupport @Flipkart Looks like you are making fool of customers, my orders for iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro were placed successfully during the start of BBD sale and this morning you cancelled both without any reason, what type of scam is this?”

Refunds and ongoing concerns
Users affected by cancellations say they are now waiting for refunds. While Flipkart has informed some customers that their payments will be returned, timelines for processing remain unclear. At the same time, a few Plus members have claimed their devices have been shipped, but delivery is pending. This disparity in experiences has raised questions about the sale’s transparency and whether the advertised deals were genuine.

Flipkart’s silence
As of now, Flipkart has not released an official statement addressing the cancelled orders or the refund delays. With social media flooded with complaints and scam allegations, the credibility of one of India’s largest annual e-commerce sales is under scrutiny.
