You will no longer require third-party editing apps, as Instagram has announced a new Edits app especially for the creators. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri calls the Edits app a “suite of creative tools”. Edits will be a standalone app and it is available for pre-order on iOS. Android users may have to wait a little longer to pre-order the app. Mosseri says that the app won't be available to download until next month.
Mosseri in a Threads post shared details about the app. “Edits is more than a video editing app, it’s a full suite of creative tools. There will be a dedicated tab for inspiration, another to keep track of any early ideas you might have,” he said
Mosseri also said that the app will have a “much higher quality camera” along with the important editing tools that one might want in a video editing app. Edits app will let users share drafts with friends. And if they share a video edited on Edits app, Instagram will also provide insights on how those videos perform. However, it is not clear whether the Edits app will be free to use or users will have to pay a subscription fee in order to access the feature
Mosseri also revealed that they are also collaborating with video creators to get their feedback on the app and improve the overall experience.
