Meta has introduced its advanced AI assistant, Meta AI, to users in India. Accessible through Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, Meta AI promises to assist with everyday tasks, learning, and creative endeavours. First unveiled at last year’s Meta Connect and powered by the latest Llama 3 technology, Meta AI has been expanding globally since April and is now available to Indian users.

Meta AI can be invoked in WhatsApp group chats to help with planning and suggestions. Whether you're seeking restaurant recommendations or itinerary ideas for a trip, you can ask Meta AI directly within your WhatsApp conversation. To access Meta AI directly, look for the blue-purple circle icon at the top of the app once the update is available on your device.

Instagram

On Instagram, users can interact with Meta AI through Direct Messages by typing ‘@’ followed by their query. Meta AI can provide information, help plan events, or generate ideas within your chat. While it remains to be seen how effective this feature will be on Instagram, it is designed to be a helpful tool for users seeking quick information or inspiration.

Facebook

Meta AI enhances the Facebook experience by providing additional context and information about posts in your feed. For example, if you see a post about the northern lights, you can ask Meta AI about the best times to view them. In Messenger, Meta AI functions similarly to WhatsApp, offering recommendations, planning assistance, and interactive elements to enhance conversations.

Meta AI unique feature: ‘Imagine’
Meta AI includes a notable feature called ‘Imagine’, which allows users to create and share AI-generated images directly from their chats. By using the word "imagine" in your interaction with Meta AI, you can craft personalised invitations for events, develop mood boards for home decor inspiration, and even animate or modify existing images by providing new prompts.

Accessing Meta AI on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook

Meta AI is currently being gradually released across India. If you haven't received the update yet, it should arrive in the next few days. To ensure prompt access, keep your Meta apps updated to the latest version. Look for the blue-purple icon in WhatsApp or use '@' in Instagram DMs to verify if you've received the update.
