National flag

As India prepares to celebrate its 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again encouraged citizens to join the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign by hoisting or displaying the national flag at their homes. Beyond this, many people also show their patriotism online by adding the Indian tricolour to their profile pictures on social media platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter). If you’re wondering how to do this, here’s a step-by-step guide.

Adding the Indian flag to your profile picture using Facebook Frames

Facebook offers an easy way to integrate the Indian national flag into your profile photo through its Add Frames feature on the mobile app.
1. Open the Facebook app on your smartphone and tap your profile icon.
2. Select a new profile picture and choose Add Frames.
3. Tap the Flags tag and scroll to find the India option.
4. The Indian national flag will now overlay your profile photo.
5. Tap Next to set it as your profile icon on Facebook.

Once applied, you can save the image for use on other platforms. Go to View Profile Photo, tap the three dots, select Save to phone, and the image will be ready for use elsewhere.

Resizing your image for different platforms

Before uploading, adjust your profile picture to match each platform’s recommended size:
• Facebook: 170 x 170 pixels
• X (Twitter): 400 x 400 pixels
• Instagram: 180 x 180 pixels
• WhatsApp: No official size, but 500 x 500 pixels works well.

Changing your profile picture on different platforms
• Instagram: Go to Profile → Edit Profile → Change Profile Photo → New Profile Photo → Select the image → Tap the arrow icon.
• WhatsApp: Open Settings → Tap your profile picture → Camera icon → Choose image → Done.
• X (Twitter): Go to Profile → Edit profile → Upload image → Save.

Alternate methods without Facebook

If you don’t have a Facebook account or prefer another style, several tools can help you overlay the flag onto your profile photo. Apps like Snapseed, websites such as flagmypicture.com and lunapic.com, or dedicated tools like Flag Stickers for Picture and Flag Face can achieve similar results.
