Rockstar Games is preparing to release Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2026, more than a decade after the launch of GTA 5. The next official disclosure is expected during Take-Two Interactive’s November earnings call, an event closely watched by investors and the gaming community for roadmap clarity, trailer roll-outs and possible changes to timelines.
Expected release window and platforms
GTA 6 is currently scheduled to launch on May 26, 2026. The first phase is expected to cover PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not confirmed a PC launch window. Prior titles followed a pattern of consoles first and PC later by several months.
New trailer timeline
The company has confirmed that fresh GTA 6 information will be disclosed during the November earnings call. With six months remaining until the scheduled launch window, expectations are focused on a second or third trailer, pre-order announcements or statements regarding a delay, if any.
Storyline and characters
GTA 6 returns players to a modernised Vice City. The game introduces a dual-protagonist structure with Lucia as the first female lead in the mainline franchise alongside a male counterpart. Early footage shows a narrative model inspired by real-world social media, influencer culture and viral surveillance, with leaks and trailers hinting at a crime-partner dynamic rather than a lone-lead arc.
Gameplay systems and world changes
Rockstar is building new systems including an in-game social feed that reflects player actions, dynamic crowds, improved police logic and relationship interactions such as a “love meter” between protagonists. The open world appears more reactive and persistent than in past releases. The physics, traffic, interiors and environmental density are positioned to exceed prior entries based on captured footage from trailers and developer commentary.
Price, editions and availability
The game is expected to open pre-orders shortly after the next trailer. In India, the reported prices are Rs 7,999 for the Standard Edition, Rs 10,999 for the Deluxe Edition and Rs 39,999 for the Collector’s Edition. Retail availability is expected to align with the May console launch window unless the company announces a delay.
