Google has announced its latest smart speaker, the Google Home Speaker, built ground-up to showcase Gemini for Home. The device is designed for more natural, conversational interactions, with dedicated processing for Gemini’s advanced AI. A new dynamic light ring shows when Gemini is “listening, thinking, reasoning or responding,” and even when it’s in Gemini Live mode.
On the hardware side, the new speaker offers 360° balanced audio, so music fills the room evenly no matter where it’s placed. For the first time, users can also pair two Home Speakers with a Google TV streamer to create a true cinematic surround-sound system — a long-requested feature. The device still supports grouping with other Home and Nest speakers for multi-room music and stereo pairing. A physical mic mute toggle remains, addressing privacy concerns.
Design-wise, the new Home Speaker is compact, wrapped in fabric made via a 3D knitting process that cuts waste, and comes in four colours — Porcelain, Hazel, Jade and Berry.
The catch? India isn’t on the launch list. Google says the Home Speaker will go on sale in Spring 2026 for $99.99 across the US, Canada, most of Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand — but not India.
