Google’s upcoming Pixel 10 series of smartphones is set to go official in August, which will include the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold smartphones. As we await the formal launch, a new report suggests that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will probably be the first foldable with increased durability and enhanced liquid-dust resistance that matches a traditional smartphone.
Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Expected durability ratings
According to a report by Android Headlines, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will come with a new hinge, which could purportedly make the handset slimmer than its predecessor. The new, completely redesigned hinge could also allow for minimal screen bezels on the hinge side, allowing for the installation of a slightly larger secondary display, which could measure 6.4 inches, compared to the 6.3-inch outer screen on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
However, the biggest change in the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be the presence of an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, which could potentially make it the first foldable smartphone to come with such high particle and liquid protection. Currently, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 offers an IP48 rating, and many other foldable phones, including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, stick to an IPX8 and IPX9 rating.
However, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also tipped to get an IP68 rating. Therefore, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will likely match the durability of Samsung’s latest flagship foldable. Further, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold will likely be powered by a Tensor G5 processor and boot Android 16 out of the box. Apart from the performance, the smartphone may retain similar specs to its predecessor.
