Google has introduced its new Gemini AI Plus plan to take on OpenAI’s recently launched ChatGPT Go. The plan aims to make advanced AI tools more affordable for mainstream users while offering additional perks.
Gemini AI Plus plan
Gemini AI Plus was launched in Indonesia at an introductory price of IDR 37,500 (roughly Rs 200) before moving to its regular price of IDR 75,000 (around Rs 400). The service brings wider access to Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro model along with the Deep Research feature, designed to deliver more accurate responses to complex queries. The company is expected to expand availability to more regions, including India, in the coming months.
Gemini AI Plus plan features
The Gemini AI Plus plan unlocks multiple benefits for subscribers:
• Access to Gemini 2.5 Pro and Deep Research
• Limited access to Veo 3 for video generation
• 200 monthly AI credits
• Flow AI filmmaking tool
• Notebook LLM for advanced workflows
• Gemini integration across Gmail, Docs, and Vids
• 200 GB Google One storage for Photos, Drive, and Gmail
• Free Perplexity Pro subscription for advanced web search and research assistance
By bundling these features, Google is positioning Gemini AI Plus as a complete ecosystem for productivity, creativity, and AI-powered exploration.
How it compares with ChatGPT Go
ChatGPT Go, priced at a similar Rs 400 per month, offers users access to the GPT-5 model, image generation tools, and advanced file analysis capabilities. It also supports Python for data tasks, provides extended memory for more personalised chats, and allows custom GPTs to be built for specific workflows.
While OpenAI is focusing on customisation and developer tools, Google’s Gemini AI Plus combines AI features with practical utilities like cloud storage and Perplexity Pro access. However, the new plan is not available to Google Workspace business or education customers.
Availability
With AI subscription plans becoming more affordable, competition between Google and OpenAI is set to intensify. Google’s entry at Rs 400 with bundled perks indicates a push to attract everyday users, though its rollout in India will determine how widely it is adopted.
