Google has started rolling out a much-needed chat search feature for the Gemini app on Android, finally bringing it on par with its iOS and web counterparts. The update allows users to search across past conversations, making it easier to revisit earlier responses or pick up old threads without scrolling endlessly.
For regular users of Gemini, the app often becomes a running log of ideas, prompts, and research notes. Until now, finding something buried deep in chat history was a frustrating experience. With the new search bar integrated directly into the chat interface, users can now type in keywords or phrases and instantly retrieve relevant results from previous conversations.
How it worksThe feature is designed to be clean and intuitive. Once the update lands, the search bar will appear at the top of the chat screen, allowing quick access without the need to switch tabs or dig through menus.
This rollout improves Gemini’s usability significantly on Android, bringing its user experience in line with the desktop and iOS versions—particularly in how it handles long or complex conversations.
If you haven’t received the feature yet, there’s no reason to panic. Google typically releases such updates in phases. Just ensure your app is updated to the latest version of the Google app to gain access to the feature when it arrives.
