Last month, Google added a feature to its AI-powered Gemini chatbot named Canvas, which is a tool that provides Gemini users with an interactive space where they can create, refine, and share writing and coding projects. It is an interactive space for rapid iteration, whether you're writing documents or coding while showing a combination of the code and a live preview of the results.
However, the AI tool was initially available for Gemini web users. Thankfully, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has shared a new post on social media platform X and announced that everyone can now code and create using Gemini 2.5 Pro with Canvas in the Gemini App.
Gemini’s Canvas tool is now available for app users: Key details
Gemini AI’s 2.5 Canvas tool offers users an interactive workspace to seamlessly draft or refine coding projects. It was initially accessible via the prompt bar in the Gemini web platform and even enables users to fine-tune content by adjusting the tone, length, and formatting of various codes.
Now, with the introduction of the Gemini 2.5 Pro AI model experimental version last week, Google has enabled Canvas 2.5 Pro for the Gemini App users as well. This means that mobile Gemini users can also access Canvas for coding, with Gemini able to generate and preview the entered HTML codes and other web app prototypes to see a visual representation of a user’s design.
Google says Canvas eliminates the need to switch between multiple projects, providing a streamlined environment for creative and technical projects. It also has an option to export the current project to Google Docs for further sharing of the generated codes with other users.
