Recently, a new post is going viral on social media platforms that talks about Indian government’s new scheme titled ‘PM Modi AC Yojana 2025’, under which 1.5 crore 5-star air conditioners will be distributed free of cost.

The post urges people to apply quickly, claiming that new ACs will be installed within 30 days. However, the claim is false and has been officially debunked.

What’s the claim

The claim, shared widely on platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp, suggests that the government will roll out the free AC scheme in May 2025. It also alleges that the Ministry of Power has already prepared 1.5 crore air conditioners for the public. The message includes calls to action, asking users to share the post and follow an account for more updates.

The truth as per PIB Fact Check

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check, the government’s official fact-checking handle, has clarified that no such scheme has been announced. The bureau categorically stated that the claim is fake and that no ministry or government department has issued any notification regarding free distribution of 5-star ACs.
