Eureka Forbes has come up with a new air purifier – Forbes Air Purifier 500 – and it has a host of features including app control, Wi-Fi and an AI mode. Not only this but as an air purifier, it is pretty loaded too. For instance, it has a coverage area of 670 sq.ft, built-in PM 2.5 indicator, VOC indicator, HEPA Grade 13 filter, and child lock.

On paper, Forbes Air Purifier 500 has almost everything that an air purifier that costs Rs 19,999 should offer. The coverage area is good too to be effective in the large surroundings in the home like your living room, bedroom, etc.

Now, Eureka Forbes claims that this air purifier can clean the air in just 10 minutes and clears out Dust, Allergens, Bacteria, and pollen as well.

I have been using this air purifier for almost a month and here is the full review:

Design
Eureka Forbes Air Purifier 500 Smart has a tower design and despite the fact it is all plastic, the quality here is top-notch. There’s no flex in the body panels or flimsy panels and parts. The body’s bottom part of perforations for air intake is on all four sides which allows the air purifier to collect air from all sides.

The interesting part though is that the air purifier has two parts – top and bottom. The top part has a fan inside and integrates all the controls and the outlet for the fresh air. The bottom part is just a plastic mesh that houses the circular filter. Also, there's a nice little lock at the back panel that keeps both the pieces attached together.

The outlet is up top and the airflow is high and ejected in such a way as to not blow directly on the face. So, it does not feel irritating even in winter. This I believe is a good design for an air purifier.

Talking about the top part, there are some buttons and a display. The buttons are touch-type and are responsive too. The display offers a wide range of information such as AQI, PM2.5 value, etc. The modes also get highlighted when tapped on the button.

You also get a dedicated AI button and VOC colour indicator here. Apart from that, there’s a power button, Dimmer for the display, Fan speed control and mode selector, among others.

Overall, the air purifier’s design is functional and controls are easier.

Getting started
Setting up the air purifier is straight forward too. All you have to do is remove the plastics from the filter and power it up. That’s it. The air purifier is up and ready. However, there’s Wi-Fi onboard and an app support.

To connect your phone, download the Eureka Forbes Air Purifier app and then follow the simple on-screen instructions to pair it. Once done, you can control the air purifier, schedule it, change modes, adjust fan speed, etc right from the phone. The app itself is simple and easy to use. The pairing process is in one take and there’s no problem as such.

Performance, fan noise and more

The Forbes Air Purifier 500 Smart delivers strong purification performance, effectively handling various air quality challenges. Its coverage easily accommodates large spaces, such as a large living room, and efficiently filters out particulate matter from incense, cooking fumes, and even smoking. Additionally, it helps reduce surrounding odours to a noticeable degree. The air flow rate is 500 m3/hr which is more than enough for most needs.

One of its standout features is its adaptive filtration speed. In “AI” mode, the purifier adjusts its fan speed based on real-time air quality. For instance, during cooking sessions involving sauteed vegetables, the device detected a spike in pollutants and quickly increased the fan speed to its maximum to clear the air.

At higher fan speeds, the purifier can become a little noisy, which may be distracting. However, at moderate speeds, it operates quietly, with noise levels dropping even further in “Sleep” mode, making it suitable for nighttime use. Its built-in timers—offering settings for up to 12 hours—provide convenience by automating operations based on user preferences. Not only this, the fan speed can be changed up to 12 speed settings which is far more granular than other air purifiers offer. This helps when you want more precise speed controls.

Eureka Forbes has also made the filters available on its website as well as on Amazon and other e-commerce platforms which makes it a pretty reliable choice to go with, after all the hardware is what you buy once, however, the longevity matters based on the availability of the filters for the air purifier.
