X India announced that the platform logged over 9 million Diwali-related conversations from November 2024 to October 2025, marking a record year of festive engagement on the service. In its post, X India called it a proud moment for the country, noting how millions of users shared greetings, cultural reflections and celebrations that travelled from India to audiences across the world.

The announcement also included a quote from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who highlighted the cultural depth of Deepavali and its significance across Indian civilisation. He said the festival symbolises illumination and righteousness, and its recent inclusion in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list represents global recognition of India’s traditions. His remarks added momentum to the wave of conversations as people joined in to express pride and share their personal Diwali memories.

According to X India, the scale of engagement showed how digital platforms have become central to documenting cultural moments that once remained within households and communities. Users shared festival photos, stories, customs and regional celebrations, contributing to a vibrant stream of posts that kept Diwali trending throughout the year-long period.

Creators, cultural commentators and everyday users contributed to the record activity, reflecting both emotional connection and cultural identity. The milestone highlighted how Diwali now resonates globally, with conversations extending far beyond India’s boundaries and reaching communities who celebrate or engage with the festival from abroad.
