While users in India are combating the UPI outage, OpenAI has confirmed that its AI chatbot, ChatGPT, has run into some problems, and users are experiencing issues with the popular AI chatbot. The company has also updated its official status page, confirming the issues with the chatbot.
Users have also started reporting issues with ChatGPT via Downdetector as well as social media platforms.
What OpenAI has saidAccording to the official status page, the company is currently investigating degraded performance and increased error rates, which have been ongoing for at least 10 minutes as of 7:40 PM on April 2, 2025.
Affected services and componentsThe outage primarily impacts ChatGPT, with three components showing disruptions. The web version remains operational, but mobile users on both iOS and Android have reported problems.
OpenAI’s status page indicates a surge in user reports, with 1,642 complaints logged in the last 24 hours—a significant spike compared to the baseline of just seven.

The outage has led to a flood of complaints, particularly from mobile users. OpenAI’s support portal allows affected individuals to report issues with ChatGPT, Sora, Dall-E, or other services. The company has yet to confirm the root cause but assures users that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
