Apple is paying up to settle a privacy lawsuit — and if you’ve used Siri in the past few years, you might be eligible for a payout.

The tech giant has agreed to pay $95 million after being accused of recording users’ private conversations without their permission. So what exactly went wrong here? Siri, Apple’s voice assistant, sometimes got activated by mistake and started recording people during personal or sensitive moments. These recordings were reportedly sent to third-party contractors to check Siri’s accuracy — without users ever knowing.

The problem came to light in 2019 and sparked a class action lawsuit. Apple denied that it used the recordings for ads, but it did apologize and promised to stop storing users’ voice data.

Now, as part of the settlement, a website has been launched where eligible Apple users can submit a claim to get their share of the money.

Who can apply?

If you owned a Siri-enabled device (like an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, HomePod, Apple TV, or even an iPod touch) between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024, and Siri accidentally turned on during a private conversation, you can file a claim. You should be a US. resident to be eligible for this payout.

You can claim for up to five devices, and each approved claim could get you up to $20 per device.

You don’t need to have received a special code or notice. Anyone who believes they’re eligible can apply — but you’ll have to confirm that Siri turned on unintentionally on each device.

When is the last date to apply?

The last date to submit your claim is July 2, 2025.

So, if you’ve ever had Siri jump in when you didn’t ask her to,  you might just get a little something back.
