Apple teases new MacBook Pro launch: M5 chip, better battery, and what more to expect

Apple’s marketing chief Greg Joswiak has dropped a teasing hint on X, saying “something powerful is coming.” The post features a side profile of what appears to be a MacBook Pro — and fans think it’s more than just a tease. The clues point squarely to the long-awaited M5 MacBook Pro launch this week.

Apple seems to be gearing up for one of its biggest hardware drops of the year. Greg Joswiak, Apple’s Senior VP of Marketing, posted a cryptic message on X: “Something powerful is coming,” alongside a silhouetted MacBook Pro image. The teaser’s details are getting plenty of attention — and speculation.

The laptop in the image appears to sport a bluish tint, possibly hinting at a new “sky blue” colourway similar to the MacBook Air and iPhone Air. But what’s really fuelling excitement is the shape — the MacBook forms a distinct “V,” possibly symbolising the Roman numeral for five. Joswiak also wrote “Mmmmm,” with five M’s — which fans see as a not-so-subtle nod to the upcoming M5 chip.

M5 MacBook Pro: What to expect

Bloomberg and other reliable sources suggest Apple is preparing to unveil new M5-powered devices this week, including the MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Vision Pro. The base M5 MacBook Pro is expected first, while the M5 Pro and M5 Max variants may follow early next year.

It is expected that with the new processor, the MacBook Pro could get a battery bump as well. The MacBook Pro could come in a 14-inch and 16-inch variants. Its price is expected to be around Rs 1.70 lakh as the entry-level M4 MacBook Pro was launched around the same price.

If the teaser is anything to go by, Apple’s next chapter in Mac performance could be right around the corner.
