Apple’s iCloud+ just got more expensive in these 3 countries: All you need to know

No word yet on whether these prices will increase in the near future, but given the trend, it wouldn’t be surprising if India sees a revision later in 2024.

Apple has quietly increased the prices of its iCloud+ subscription plans in three Latin American countries—Brazil, Chile, and Peru. The new rates came into effect recently, as reflected in an updated Apple support document shared last Thursday.

The price hike impacts all iCloud+ storage tiers, including the most basic 50GB plan as well as the high-capacity 12TB option.

Here’s a quick look at the new pricing:

In Brazil, the cost of the 50GB plan has jumped from R$4.90 to R$5.90. The 200GB plan is now R$19.90 (up from R$14.90), and the 2TB plan has increased from R$49.90 to R$66.90. If you're on the 6TB or 12TB plans, expect to pay significantly more—R$199.90 and R$399.90, respectively.

In Chile, the 50GB plan is now CLP $990 (previously $790), while the 2TB tier has climbed from $8,490 to $10,990. Higher plans like 6TB and 12TB now cost $32,990 and $64,990, respectively.

In Peru, users will now pay S/. 3.90 for 50GB (up from S/. 2.90), S/. 12.90 for 200GB, and S/. 42.90 for 2TB. The highest-tier 12TB plan now costs S/. 259.90.

While the changes may not seem huge at first glance, they can add up for users who rely on iCloud+ for storing large amounts of data or sharing storage with family members.

This isn’t the first time Apple has raised iCloud+ prices this year. Earlier in 2024, the company adjusted rates in over 10 other countries, including Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Turkey, and Nigeria.

Interestingly, countries like the U.S., U.K., and Canada have been spared—at least for now.

What about India?

In India, iCloud+ prices remain unchanged:

Rs 75/month for 50GB

Rs 219/month for 200GB

Rs 749/month for 2TB

No word yet on whether these prices will increase in the near future, but given the trend, it wouldn’t be surprising if India sees a revision later in 2024.

As always, Apple has not provided a public explanation for these pricing updates, but currency fluctuations, regional taxes, and operating costs could be contributing factors.

For now, users in affected countries will need to weigh whether the cloud storage service is still worth the new price tag—or explore alternatives.
