Popular Android manufacturers like Samsung, Google, and Motorola have been delivering foldable smartphones for years now. However, in response, Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is yet to release a foldable device. While we have been hearing mixed reports and rumours about Apple’s foldable iPhone for the last few months, Digital Chat Station has now shared the specifications of the book-style prototype of the next foldable iPhone.
A foldable iPhone soon with two big screens?
As revealed by popular tipster Digital Chat Station via Weibo, Apple's inaugural foldable phone will be a "Big Fold". The leaker also revealed the screen sizes of the first-gen Apple foldable. The leak adds that Apple is going with a 5.49-inch cover display and a 7.74-inch inner display. These dimensions mean that the foldable will be fairly wide, and could be even wider than the original Pixel Fold which had a larger front display and smaller inner display.
In contrast, Samsung's latest Galaxy Z Fold 6 sports a 6.3-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch inner display. Therefore, these numbers are interesting, as these dimensions would make the Apple foldable the smallest of its peers, when compared with foldables launched in 2024.
If we talk about its launch timeline, Apple's first foldable isn't expected to be unveiled until next year at the earliest. Previously, multiple reports confirmed that Apple has selected Lens Technology from China as its primary supplier of ultra-thin glass for this foldable device. However, this is all early speculation, so take these leaks with a grain of salt.
