Apple has released iOS 18 developer beta 7 along with public beta 5 for eligible iPhones. It carries similar features to the previous updates and focuses more on improving system performance and bug fixes. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman via a post on social media platform X suggested that these new beta updates might be the final updates before the release of iOS 18 stable update with the launch of the iPhone 16 series in September.
iOS 18 new developer and public beta updates: Key detailsThe latest iOS 18 Developer Beta 7 update with build number 22A5346a has a new update that fixes an issue that made some smartphones unable to play newly added background sounds. It also adds a new Distraction Control feature that allows users to selectively block content on Safari web pages, especially with sign-in pop-ups and overlays. This update also has included new dark mode icons for Maps and Find My apps, and some Control Center icons.
The Public beta 5 update also adds a new Passwords app, that makes it easier to access your passwords, passkeys, Wi-Fi passwords, and verification codes. We also got a new SharePlay screen sharing. With it, users can take over other people’s iPhones remotely by using the SharePlay screen with the help of FaceTime.
Apple previously released eight developer beta updates for iOS 17, before the stable release release in last September. However, since this update is suggested to be the last developer beta update, we can now expect the stable iOS 18 release to be announced in the coming weeks.
