Apple confirmed last week that its iPhone 17 event will be on September 9 at its ‘Awe Dropping' keynote at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Cupertino, California. A lot is riding on Apple’s new iPhones this year, as the lineup could see some changes, and one of them could be the exit of the Plus moniker, replaced by the much-awaited Air version, with an ultra-slim design. It is likely to be pitted against the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, and here is a round-up of everything we know about it, before the eventual launch next week.
iPhone 17 Air: Expected design, specifications
The upcoming iPhone 17 Air is tipped to feature a slim design with a 5.5mm frame and weigh under 150 grams. Previous renders and design leaks suggest that the iPhone 17 Air will feature only a single camera at the back and front. The design language across the range is expected to shift subtly, with the new Air model expected to come with an all-aluminium frame, while titanium finishes are reserved for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.
Like the iPhone 16 Plus, the iPhone 17 Air will likely carry a 6.7-inch display. However, it may support Promotion technology, enabling up to 120Hz refresh rate. The company should power the phone with the A19 Pro chipset and 12GB RAM, which would make it compatible with Apple Intelligence. For photography, the phone may have a 48MP single camera at the rear and a 24MP TrueDepth camera at the front. It is also likely to have a smaller battery pack of less than 3,000 mAh capacity.
iPhone 17 Air: Expected price
Going by the market trends and a few leaks, we expect the iPhone 17 Air to cost around Rs 1,20,999 for the base variant with the 256GB storage, which puts it below the Pro models but slightly costlier than the base iPhone 17 model.
