Google has introduced a new set of AI-powered travel planning tools inside Google Search, aiming to simplify how users create itineraries, find deals, and move from ideas to actual bookings. The latest update expands AI Mode, Canvas integration, Flight Deals, and agentic booking capabilities.
AI Mode now helps build personalised itineraries Google’s upgraded AI Mode can now generate customised travel plans based on natural-language prompts. Users can describe the type of trip they have in mind — such as a three-day Goa visit or a week-long Europe tour — and the system automatically drafts an itinerary. It pulls real-time hotel and flight data, points of interest, Google Maps reviews, photos, expected travel times, and nearby restaurants. The itinerary appears inside a Canvas panel, where users can refine suggestions, add constraints, or reorganise the trip.

Canvas in Search brings everything into one interactive panel Canvas, previously used for project organisation, now supports travel planning within Google Search. When users choose “Create Canvas,” the tool opens an integrated dashboard showing suggested hotels, attractions, maps, timings, and daily plans. Unlike generic static recommendations, Canvas updates dynamically based on new queries. Travellers can modify the duration, budget, preferred activities, or even compare hotels by distance, amenities, and pricing. The feature is currently available on desktop in the U.S. through the AI Mode Labs experiment.

Flight Deals expands globally for bargain-focused travellers Google’s AI-powered Flight Deals tool, earlier limited to select regions, is now rolling out globally across 200+ countries and territories. The tool understands open-ended prompts like “I want a cheap beach vacation in December” or “Where can I travel from Delhi for under Rs 25,000?” It then scans flight availability to show the most affordable destinations. The expansion includes support for more than 60 languages, giving international travellers broader flexibility when hunting for low-fare options.

Agentic AI helps users discover and book reservations A significant update is the wider rollout of agentic AI inside Google Search. Users can describe what they want — such as restaurant reservations, spa appointments, or event tickets — and the tool searches across multiple platforms to present real-time availability. It compiles a shortlist with direct booking links through partners like OpenTable, Resy, Ticketmaster, StubHub, Booksy, or Fresha. Restaurant booking via agentic AI is now available in the U.S., with event ticketing and local appointment booking accessible to Labs users.
Google plans deeper travel booking capabilities in future Google confirmed it is working with partners like Expedia, Booking.com, Marriott, IHG, and Wyndham to allow travellers to complete hotel and flight bookings directly within AI Mode. Future updates will let users compare schedules, prices, room photos, amenities, and reviews in a conversational interface, then complete bookings seamlessly. The company says these AI-driven features aim to reduce planning friction, letting users spend more time enjoying their holidays instead of jumping across multiple apps and websites.
