Elon Musk, owner of X, has strongly disapproved of a controversial performance during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The event featured a provocative tableau that parodied Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic depiction of the Last Supper, which Musk labeled as “extremely disrespectful to Christians.”
This was extremely disrespectful to Christians— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 26, 2024
The performance included a central figure, a woman wearing a halo crown and holding her hands in a heart shape, flanked by drag queens and a child. The scene culminated with a man, representing the Greek God Dionysus, being served on a silver platter. According to the Paris Olympics organizers, this portrayal was intended to illustrate "the absurdity of violence between human beings."
Musk's comments reflect widespread criticism from Christian groups and viewers who have condemned the performance as a mockery of their faith. Many see the act as an affront to Christian values and a provocative use of religious imagery for entertainment.
