Shahid Afridi's remark on the recent Pahalgam terror attack, where he blames India behind the gruesome incident, has landed him in hot water. The ex-Pakistan captain has already been blasted by his former teammate Danish Kaneria, who called Afridi out for his "extremist views", and now ex-India batter Shikhar Dhawan has taken a similar route.
Clearly upset with Afridi's remark, Dhawan didn't hesitate from slamming the former Pakistan international and reminded how India won the war against Pakistan in Kargil. Afridi while addressing the matter also made disparaging remarks about the Indian armed forces, and responding to the same Dhawan stated that Indian citizens are extremely proud of our army.
"Kargil mein bhi haraya tha, already itna gire hue ho aur kitna giroge, bewajah comments pass karne se acha hai apne desh ki taraqqi mai dimag lagao @SAfridiOfficial. Humein hamari Indian Army par bohot garv hai. Bharat Mata Ki Jai! Jai Hind! (We defeated you in Kargil. How much lower can you get? Instead of passing needless comments focus on your's country growth. We are very proud of Indian Army)" - the ex-India opener wrote on X.

A video went viral on social media, which shows Afridi expressing his thoughts on the attack in Pahalgam's Baisaran valley, which claimed the lives of at least 26 civilians.
"The terrorists continued to kill people in Pahalgam for an hour, and not a single Indian soldier showed up. But when they did, they blamed Pakistan. India carries out terrorism itself, kills its people, and then puts the blame on Pakistan," Afridi told local reporters in Pakistan.

"We received so many threats before travelling to India. I was the captain during the 2016 T20 World Cup, and I had no clue whether we would go. Sports diplomacy is also good. They send their kabaddi team here, but they can't send their cricket team. If you want to shut it down, do it completely," he added.
He has consistently aligned himself with extremist views. In my opinion, he should not be given a platform on Indian television or within the country. Additionally, he tried to persuade me to convert to Islam and declined to share a meal with me, which I found deeply https://t.co/gArYTNX1x4 Danish Kaneria (@DanishKaneria61) April 28, 2025
Earlier, Kaneria reacting to the same took to X and wrote: "He has consistently aligned himself with extremist views. In my opinion, he should not be given a platform on Indian television or within the country. Additionally, he tried to persuade me to convert to Islam and declined to share a meal with me, which I found deeply disrespectful."
