Vedamurti Devavrat Mahesh Rekhe: Nineteen year old Vedic scholar Vedamurti Devavrat Mahesh Rekhe from Kashi has created history by completing the highly revered Dandakrama Parayanam in just 50 days. This includes the recitation of nearly 2000 mantras from the Shukla Yajurveda Madhyandini branch with complete accuracy, discipline and devotion. His remarkable achievement is being celebrated across India and is considered a proud moment for followers of Vedic tradition.

Recognition and Blessings from Sringeri Math

As reported by Sringeri Math, the Parayanam was completed at Vallabharam Shaligram Sangved Vidyalaya from 2 October to 30 November. This achievement has been accomplished in its pure classical form after almost 200 years. For this milestone, Devavrat was honoured with a golden bracelet worth Rs 5 lakhs and Rs 1,11,116 in cash. He also received the blessings of the Jagadguru Shankaracharyas of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham.

Praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also represents Kashi in the Parliament, appreciated Devavrat’s dedication. He said that every person who loves Indian culture feels proud of his extraordinary accomplishment. The PM expressed happiness that this rare spiritual feat has taken place in the holy city of Kashi and admired the contribution of scholars, saints and the student’s family.

Legacy of Vedic Scholarship

Devavrat is the son of Vedabrahmasri Mahesh Chandrakant Rekhe. His father is the chief examiner of the Shukla Yajurveda Madhyandina Shakha exams conducted by the Veda Poshaka Sabha of Sringeri Peetham. Growing up in a strong spiritual and educational environment has helped Devavrat embrace Vedic studies from a young age and excel beyond expectations.

Why this Achievement is Historic?

Completion of Dandakrama Parayanam requires exceptional memory, flawless pronunciation, inner discipline and strict adherence to traditional rules of chanting. Very few scholars in modern times attempt this rigorous recitation. The successful completion after two centuries shows the strength and continuity of India’s ancient Vedic heritage.

Vedamurti Devavrat Mahesh Rekhe has become a symbol of inspiration for youth who want to learn and preserve sacred Vedic knowledge. His achievement reflects the power of dedication and the timeless value of the Guru Parampara.
