Varaha Jayanti 2025 Significance
Varaha Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Lord Varaha, the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu during Satya Yuga. In this divine form, Vishnu appeared as a boar (Varaha) to restore balance in the universe and protect the earth from evil forces. This festival holds great spiritual importance as it symbolizes the victory of good over evil and highlights Lord Vishnu’s promise to protect Dharma whenever it is threatened.
The Story of Varaha Avatar
According to Hindu scriptures, a demon named Hiranyaksha had captured the earth and hidden it deep inside Rasatala Loka (the lower realms). To rescue the earth, Lord Vishnu incarnated as Varaha, a mighty boar with immense strength. A fierce battle took place between Lord Varaha and Hiranyaksha, after which the demon was slain. Lord Varaha then lifted the earth on His tusks and placed it back in its rightful position in the universe.
This act of divine protection is remembered as the Varaha Avatara or Varahavatara, one of the Dashavatara (ten incarnations) of Lord Vishnu.
