Vaikuntha Ekadasi 2025: TTD Confirms 10-Day Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan at Tirumala from December 30

Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh): The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has officially announced that the sacred Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan of Lord Venkateswara will be held for 10 days, starting December 30, 2025.

The decision comes after weeks of speculation over the duration of the event. TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu confirmed the schedule following a detailed meeting of the Board of Trustees, reaffirming the temple body’s commitment to preserving the spiritual sentiments of millions of devotees.

10-Day Darshan to Continue Tradition

Chairman Naidu emphasized that any attempt to shorten the darshan period would have hurt devotees’ religious faith. He stated that the 10-day format allows lakhs of pilgrims to seek Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan and experience the divine blessings of Lord Venkateswara.

Over 7.5 lakh devotees availed the darshan during the previous Vaikuntha Ekadasi, highlighting the festival’s immense significance in the Hindu calendar.

Previous Concerns Over Safety

The announcement gains significance as reports earlier suggested a possible reduction of the darshan period to two days. This consideration arose after a stampede-like incident during the previous Vaikuntha Ekadasi celebrations in January, which claimed six lives and left over 40 devotees injured.

However, Naidu clarified that the TTD Board decided to uphold the 10-day tradition after careful consultation, ensuring both devotee safety and religious sanctity are maintained.

Reactions from Leaders

Former TTD Chairman and YSRCP leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy had earlier opposed any move to shorten the event. He reminded that the 10-day format was introduced during the YSRCP government after discussions with 28 Peetadhipatis (Hindu religious heads), all of whom had endorsed the extended schedule.

Ticket Distribution and Arrangements

TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal announced that a special committee will be formed to decide the ticket distribution process, whether online or through counters in Tirupati. The committee’s recommendations are expected within two weeks.

TTD also assured that all necessary arrangements would be made to ensure smooth crowd management, security, and accommodation facilities for visiting devotees.

Development Works and New Projects

In addition to the darshan schedule, the TTD Board approved several key resolutions:

  • Construction of a Lord Venkateswara Temple in Chennai, costing Rs14 crore, funded through donations.
  • Sanctioning of Brahmotsavam bahumanams (honorariums) to temple employees.
  • Approval of pilgrim-centric development works at Kanipakam, Ontimitta, Kadapa, and Karimnagar temples.
  • Recommendation for an Anti-Corruption Bureau inquiry into alleged irregularities in the procurement of Melchat Vastrams (temple garments).

Preserving Devotion and Faith

The TTD’s confirmation of the 10-day darshan reflects its dedication to safeguarding the devotional traditions of Vaikuntha Ekadashi - a day when devotees believe that the Vaikuntha Dwaram (gateway to heaven) opens, granting liberation and divine blessings to those who have darshan of Lord Venkateswara.
