During the grand Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025 celebrations in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, an unexpected incident caused panic among the crowd. Three elephants, part of the ceremonial procession, went out of control, forcing devotees to flee the scene in fear.
A video of the incident, now viral on social media, shows one of the elephants, fully decorated for the Rath Yatra — suddenly charging toward a crowded road. People can be seen running for safety while a few others tried to calm the animal and regain control.
According to PTI, the elephant lost its balance amidst the noise and crowd, leading to a brief moment of chaos. However, swift action by the local authorities helped bring the situation under control.

Teams from the Fire Department, police, and veterinarians were already stationed at the site and quickly responded to the situation. Thankfully, the elephant was safely handled and led away without causing major harm or injuries.
Jagannath Rath Yatra in Gujarat, especially in cities like Ahmedabad, draws huge crowds every year. Elephants are traditionally included in the ceremonial procession, adding grandeur to the religious celebration.
