Meerabai Jayanti Significance

Born in 1498 in Kudki, Rajasthan, Meerabai was the daughter of King Ratan Singh and Queen Veer Kanwar. Following her mother’s early demise, her grandparents raised her, nurturing a deep devotion to Lord Vishnu. Trained in religion, politics, and music, her heart remained devoted to Lord Krishna.

In 1516, she married Bhoj Raj, Prince of Mewar. Despite the challenges posed by her in-laws, who disapproved of her devotion, Meerabai’s love for Krishna only deepened. Her life became a symbol of spiritual devotion, courage, and resilience, inspiring generations through her bhajans, poetry, and unwavering faith.

Legends narrate her miraculous deeds, such as a poisonous snake turning into a garland when she picked it to adorn Krishna’s idol. Her teachings, guided by saints like Guru Ravidas, encouraged devotion and surrender to the divine. In her later years, she traveled to Vrindavan and Dwarka, spreading her message of divine love, and is believed to have merged with Krishna in 1547.
