Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025: 'Kaante Wale Baba' Amazes Devotees by Lying on Thorns

The Maha Kumbh 2025, being held at the holy Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has captivated millions of devotees and visitors from around the world. Among the various saints and seers showcasing their unique talents, one name stands out – 'Kaante Wale Baba,' also known as Ramesh Kumar Manjhi.

'Kaante Wale Baba' has become a major attraction at the Maha Kumbh with his incredible feat of lying on a bed of sharp thorns. This awe-inspiring act has been part of his spiritual practice for over 40-50 years.

Speaking about his journey, he shared, "I serve my guru, who gave me the strength and knowledge to perform this act. It is God’s grace that allows me to do this every year without feeling any pain. In fact, it benefits my body."

The baba revealed that he donates half of the dakshina (offerings) he receives and uses the remaining amount to manage his daily expenses. His humble approach and dedication to spirituality have left the devotees in admiration.

Global Delegation Visits Maha Kumbh

Adding to the grandeur of this spiritual event, a 21-member delegation from ten countries arrived at the Arail Tent City on January 16. Invited by the Ministry of External Affairs' External Publicity and Public Diplomacy Division, the delegation includes representatives from Fiji, Finland, Guyana, Malaysia, Mauritius, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Arab Emirates.

The delegation is set to participate in several activities, including taking a sacred dip at the Triveni Sangam, symbolising spiritual purification. They will also explore Prayagraj's rich cultural and historical heritage through a heritage walk and enjoy a helicopter ride to get an aerial view of the sprawling Maha Kumbh area.

This year's Maha Kumbh is not only a spiritual gathering but also a global cultural showcase, drawing visitors and devotees from across the globe. With unique personalities like 'Kaante Wale Baba' and international interest, it continues to highlight India’s vibrant spiritual and cultural heritage.
