Former President Ram Nath Kovind visited the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj on Tuesday morning, expressing his satisfaction with the arrangements made for the grand spiritual gathering.

During his visit, Kovind commended Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his administration for their meticulous planning and organisation of the event. "The arrangements done here are really good; all facilities are in place. I visited several camps and I’m very happy. Yogi Adityanath and his team have done an excellent job, and I thank the administration for their efforts," Kovind stated.

In addition to attending the festival, the former president spoke about the proposed 'One Nation, One Election' bill. As chairman of the committee overseeing the proposal, Kovind remarked, "The work is ongoing, and the decision lies with Parliament. If this proposal gets passed, I believe it will boost the country's GDP and strengthen economic conditions. This initiative could be a game-changer, positioning India as the second-largest economy in the world."

Despite the chilly weather and heavy fog that blanketed Prayagraj on Tuesday morning, thousands of devotees gathered at the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. By Tuesday, over 88.1 million devotees had taken the holy dip at the Sangam, according to data provided by the Uttar Pradesh government.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a minimum temperature of 11°C for Prayagraj on the same day, with foggy conditions in the morning giving way to clear skies later. However, the cold weather did little to deter the large crowds seeking spiritual blessings at the Maha Kumbh.

The Maha Kumbh, which commenced on January 13, 2025, is one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world, drawing millions of pilgrims seeking to wash away their sins and attain spiritual purification. The festival will continue until February 26, with significant bathing dates including Mauni Amavasya (January 29), Basant Panchami (February 3), Maghi Purnima (February 12), and Maha Shivaratri (February 26).

On Monday, Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty also attended the festival, expressing her joy and describing Maha Kumbh as a deeply meaningful and hopeful experience.

Former President Kovind’s visits and his appreciation for the arrangements reflect the immense efforts undertaken by the Uttar Pradesh government to ensure the comfort and safety of millions of devotees. With a seamless blend of spirituality, meticulous planning, and unwavering faith, Maha Kumbh 2025 continues to uphold its legacy as a global symbol of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
