This day is crucial as it is believed that Magha Nakshatra is ruled by the Pitrs (पितृ), the spirits of departed ancestors. If the Magha Nakshatra occurs for a longer duration on one of two days during Aparahna Kala, that day is chosen for performing the Shraddha. Furthermore, if both Magha Nakshatra and Trayodashi Tithi coincide during Aparahna Kala, the day is referred to as Magha Trayodashi Shraddha, making the rituals even more spiritually potent.
