Auspicious Time for Lakshmi Puja

The ideal time to perform Lakshmi Puja is during Pradosh Kaal, when Sthir Lagna (Vrishabha Lagna) prevails. “Sthir” means stable, signifying that if the puja is done during this period, Goddess Lakshmi stays permanently in the devotee’s home.

The Mahanishita Kaal is another suitable period but is generally preferred by Tantrik practitioners and Pandits for deeper rituals. Hence, common devotees are advised to follow Pradosh Kaal Muhurat for the most favorable results.

On the day of Diwali, devotees rise early, take a holy bath, and pay homage to their ancestors and family deities. Being Amavasya, people also perform Shradh rituals for their forefathers. Many devotees observe a day-long fast that is broken only after the evening Lakshmi Puja.

Homes and offices are beautifully adorned with marigold flowers, Ashoka leaves, mango leaves, and banana leaves. The entrance is decorated with Mangalik Kalash and a coconut, symbolizing purity and prosperity.

During the puja, idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha are placed on a red cloth and worshipped with incense, diyas, sweets, and flowers. Devotees also install the Navgraha gods on a white cloth beside them, offering prayers for peace and balance in life.
