Agartala (Tripura): As the echoes of Durga Puja celebrations fade, the festive spirit in Tripura continues to shine brightly. Markets across Agartala are now bustling with activity as people gear up for Kojagari Lakshmi Puja 2025. From colourful Lakshmi idols to fresh fruits and puja essentials, every corner of the city is alive with devotion and excitement.

Idol Makers Keep Prices Steady Despite Rising Costs

Following age-old tradition, artisans and potters in Agartala have begun displaying beautifully crafted Lakshmi idols in various sizes — from small to large, to meet festive demand. Despite a slight rise in raw material costs, local artisans have kept idol prices nearly the same as last year.

“Although material prices have gone up, we’ve tried to keep rates stable for the buyers,” said an artisan from Agartala’s popular idol-making hub, where potters can be seen shaping clay, painting details, and adding the final touches to the goddess idols.

Buyers Flock to Markets for Festive Shopping

With Kojagari Lakshmi Puja just around the corner, enthusiastic shoppers have started visiting local markets to buy idols and puja items.

Prices currently range around Rs300 for small idols, Rs500 for medium, and Rs800 for larger ones. “I came to buy an idol for Rs300. Prices are slightly higher than last year, but the designs are beautiful and I’m happy with my purchase,” said a local buyer from Agartala.

Vendors Record Good Sales Ahead of Puja

Local idol sellers are pleased with the festive response. “The market atmosphere is lively like last year. People are buying many idols, and sales have been good. I’ve kept prices low so everyone can afford one,” said Satyaranjan Rudrapaul, an idol vendor.

Similarly, fruit sellers have reported steady demand for puja offerings. “Fruit prices are almost the same as last year. We’ve kept the rates affordable so everyone can participate in the festival,” said Litan Paul, a fruit vendor arranging bananas, coconuts, and other seasonal fruits.

City Set to Welcome Goddess Lakshmi

As the festive energy spreads across Agartala, the markets of Tripura are glowing with faith and colour. Residents are preparing to worship Goddess Lakshmi, the divine symbol of wealth and prosperity, during Kojagari Purnima night, staying awake to seek her blessings for abundance and happiness.

With clay idols shining under decorative lights and markets echoing with cheerful chatter, Tripura is ready to welcome Kojagari Lakshmi Puja 2025 with devotion and joy.
