In a grand act of devotion during Kanwar Yatra 2025, a group of Kanwad Yatris from Gurugram is drawing nationwide attention by carrying a 1,000 kg golden Shiva Kanwar all the way to Haridwar—on wheels. The heavy and beautifully crafted Kanwar, designed in Sonipat, is not only a symbol of faith but a stunning sight that has captivated people along the 250-kilometre journey.

Golden Kanwar with Sacred Gangajal

The Kanwar, which weighs between 800 to 1,000 kilograms, holds around 40 litres of Gangajal, the holy water collected from the Ganges. According to Sonu Rana, one of the yatris, "This is a unique Kanwar made in Sonipat. People along the route are appreciating its size and spiritual beauty."

Faith-Fueled Pilgrimage Across 250 KM

The Kanwar Yatra 2025 officially began on July 10, with thousands of Shiva devotees walking barefoot or on vehicles, carrying holy water to offer at various Lord Shiva temples. The yatra is especially significant during the Shravan month, considered sacred in the Hindu calendar.

Devotees undertake rigorous fasts, chant mantras, and walk for hundreds of kilometres in saffron attire. This particular golden Kanwar from Gurugram has now become a highlight of this year's pilgrimage, reflecting not just devotion but also dedication and unity among the Kanwariyas.

Security Tightened: Operation Kalanemi in Action

While the spiritual energy of the Shravan Kanwar Yatra fills the air, the Uttarakhand State Government is also taking strong steps to ensure the sanctity of the pilgrimage. Under the direction of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, "Operation Kalanemi" has been launched to act against impersonators misusing religious identities to cheat devotees or harm the image of Sanatan Dharma.

CM Dhami said, “Just like the demon Kalanemi tried to deceive by disguising himself as a saint, similar elements today are hurting the faith of people. Strict action will be taken against such criminals.” He added that in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, several cases have emerged where anti-social elements, dressed as saints, were found deceiving especially women—endangering social harmony and misrepresenting the Sanatan tradition.

As the Kanwar Yatra 2025 progresses, this 1,000 kg golden Kanwar from Gurugram stands as a glowing symbol of unwavering faith in Lord Shiva. While spiritual fervor continues to soar, state authorities remain alert to protect the sanctity of the event. The yatra is not only a journey of faith but a celebration of culture, tradition, and resilience.
