First Mangala Gauri Vrat: Puja Vidhi

  • Wake up early and bathe before sunrise.
  • Sanctify the puja space with Ganga Jal.
  • Place an image or idol of Goddess Gauri on a wooden platform covered with red or yellow cloth.
  • Offer turmeric, kumkum, betel leaves, coconut, fruits, sweets, and Solah Shringar items (16 traditional adornments of a married woman).
  • Light lamps made from wheat dough in a row – an essential ritual.
  • Recite or listen to the Mangala Gauri Vrat Katha.
  • Perform aarti and distribute prasad.

Fasting Rules of Mangala Gauri Vrat
  • Maintain purity in thoughts and actions throughout the day.
  • Avoid cooked meals or grains; consume phalhaar (fruits, milk, etc.) only after puja.
  • This vrat is ideally observed for five or sixteen consecutive years.
  • Udyapan, a concluding ritual, is performed in the final year.
