A major spiritual landmark is set to emerge in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, with the inauguration of a 131-foot statue of Lord Hanuman at Giriraj Parvat. The monumental statue, designed and sculpted by internationally acclaimed artist Naresh Kumawat, will be unveiled during a grand ceremony scheduled for March 25–26, 2026, with the statue opening for public darshan on March 26.
The new spiritual attraction, located opposite the famous Shrinathji Temple, is expected to become a major pilgrimage landmark. The statue symbolises devotion, humility, and service, portraying Lord Hanuman in a sacred “Seva Bhav” posture, reflecting his eternal dedication to Shrinathji.
Grand Ceremony
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by prominent spiritual leaders and dignitaries. Among those invited are Rakesh Prabhu, Vishal Baba, noted industrialist Madan Paliwal, and Amit Shah, India’s Union Home Minister.
Senior state leaders, including the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, have also been invited to participate in the auspicious event marking the unveiling of one of the region’s most significant spiritual installations.
Symbolism of the Hanuman statue
The statue presents Lord Hanuman with a serene and welcoming expression, symbolising devotion, humility, and divine service. According to sacred traditions associated with Nathdwara, when Shrinathji arrived in the region, both Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman accompanied him.
The new statue reflects this spiritual continuity. It visually completes a symbolic narrative that connects the divine presence of Shrinathji, Lord Shiva, and Lord Hanuman in the sacred geography of Nathdwara.
Engineering marvel at Giriraj Parvat
Constructed at a height of nearly 500 feet above road level, the statue stands atop the steep terrain of Giriraj Parvat. The challenging location required advanced planning and innovative engineering solutions.
Key technical details
The structure is built using a specialised metallic composition supported by a strong steel framework and reinforced with glass fibre to ensure durability and structural stability.
Structural design and wind analysis were carried out under the guidance of renowned structural engineer Sharad Gupta, who has collaborated on several global projects with sculptor Naresh Kumawat.
A specially developed protective coating system, using internationally sourced materials including components from Thailand, has been applied to protect the statue from extreme weather conditions while maintaining its visual brilliance.
Teamwork behind the monument
The project was executed by a dedicated team of artisans, engineers, and technical experts.
One of the major challenges was transporting construction materials to the hilltop site. To solve this problem, the team designed and installed a custom track-based transport system, allowing equipment and materials to be safely moved up the steep terrain.
Boost to Pilgrimage Tourism in Nathdwara
The installation of the Hanuman statue is expected to significantly strengthen Nathdwara’s status as an important spiritual destination. The site will offer devotees a more complete pilgrimage experience by bringing together the sacred presence of Shrinathji, Lord Shiva, and Lord Hanuman in one region. Beyond religious importance, the project is also expected to:
The statue may eventually become a landmark comparable to famous devotional sites such as the Jakhu Temple, known for its towering Hanuman statue.
