World's richest person Elon Musk has compared the so-called 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' to rabies. While sitting next to US President Donald Trump, the Tesla CEO claimed that the left supporters react irrationally on hearing the name of Trump.
"You don't realise how real the Trump Derangement Syndrome is until you can't reason with people," Musk said during an interview with Fox News.
He recalled an instance at one of his friend's birthday party in Los Angeles. "It was like a nice, quiet dinner. Everyone was behaving normally. This was before the elections – like a month or two before. I happened to mention Trump's name. It was like they were shot with a dart in the jugular that contained methamphetamine and rabies," he said.
Musk added that one cannot have a normal conversation with people who suffer from the syndrome as they become completely irrational.
"I used to be adored by the left," Musk further said.
Musk has been an active supporter of Trump since the early days of his presidential campaign after he faced assassination attempts. After being elected as the US President, Trump appointed SpaceX boss Musk to lead his federal cost-cutting efforts under the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
DOGE has taken strong actions, including a sweeping review of federal agencies, which could lead to thousands of layoffs. Several Democratic-led states have reportedly filed lawsuits, arguing that Musk has been granted "virtually unchecked power" without being elected or Senate-confirmed.
Notably, White House recently insisted that Musk is not officially part of the DOGE but is merely a senior advisor to President Donald Trump.
"Elon Musk, just like everybody else across the federal government, works at the direction of President Trump," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters, maintaining that individual agency heads, not Musk, are responsible for layoff decisions.
