The Ccasa Hostel in Vietnam’s seaside resort-town of Nha Trang has been built by TAK Architects using recycled shipping containers. The structure features three stacked shipping containers converted into dormitory rooms. The three shipping containers, which house the beds, have been painted in the primary colours of blue, red, and yellow with each container containing a different bedroom layout, from multiple bunk beds to a family-style room with a queen bed. The kitchen facilities are located on the first floor in between the containers and the entrance. Open metal bridges, accessible terrace roof and a pergola with climbing vegetation provides greenery and natural ventilation while also protecting the interior from direct sunlight. The architects have also upcycled encaustic cement tiles, old wood windows, and flat winnowing baskets for decoration, solar shades, and room dividers.
