A Green Gift

The winners of the GIFT (Green Innovation Future Technology) Ideas Competition were recently announced in Hong Kong. The panel of judges consisted of representatives of Hong Kong Science Park, the local government, and other private organizations. The first prize was given to Seeding Architecture for embracing green values in their project that has offices, cafes, and landscaping (even on the roof). The second prize was awarded to the Green Carpet, which was executed by architects Wong Hin Fai and Lee Tin Wan. The Green Carpet is a landscape, folded up on the building roof, creating an entirely new dimension of public space. The third prize went to Staggered Green, an office building that maximizes natural light thanks to glass walls that surround it.
