Elon Musk wants Donald Trump on Mount Rushmore—and he’s ready to chisel it himself; here's why

Elon Musk on Monday again donned the fanboy hat after Mexico became the latest country to yield to Donald Trump's tariff threats, saying that the US President will make it to the Mount Rushmore at this rate.

The tech billionaire was responding to a post on X by a handle "End Wokeness" which highlighted the impact of Trump presidency, lising countries that have accepted his terms and the US agencies that are facing scrutiny.

"At this rate of achievement, not only should President @realDonaldTrump be on Mount Rushmore, I want to personally work the chisel!" Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Trump administration, said.

The post on X mentioned how countries like Mexico, Colombia, Panama and Venezuela have already "caved" under Trump's pressure while Canada is panicking after imposition of 25% tariffs.

It also mentioned that mass deporations have started, hostages are brought back home while Diversity, equity, and inclusion programs have ended.

Musk's tweet came moments after Trump and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Monday that their planned tariffs were on hold for a month to give time for further negotiations.  The statement was confirmed by the White House.  The development came after Mexico committed to putting more law enforcement on the US border to stop the flow of drugs.

Earlier, the Colombian government agreed to allow US military flights carrying deported migrants to return to the country. Later, Venezuela also accepted the demand to take back deported migrants.

Similarly, Panama’s President Jose Raul Mulino announced that his country will not renew a 2017 deal to join China’s Belt and Road Initiative amid pressure from Trump.

Trump on Saturday ordered sweeping tariffs on goods from Mexico, Canada and China, demanding they stanch the flow of fentanyl and illegal immigrants into the US, kicking off a trade war that could dent global growth and stoke inflation.

Trump also indicated on Sunday that the 27-nation European Union would be next in the firing line, but he did not say when.
