Tech billionaire Elon Musk has backed a British MP's opposition to a Bengali signboard at a London Tube station, asserting that signage in the country should be exclusively in English.

"This is London - the station name should be in English, and English only," Rupert Lowe, the Great Yarmouth MP, said on X while posting a picture of the dual language signboard at the Whitechapel Station. The sign was written in both English and Bengali.

Reacting to the post, Musk said "Yes".

The post drew mixed reactions from social media, with some backing the view while others saying there is nothing wrong in bilingual signage.

Bengali signage was installed at the Whitechapel station in 2022 to pay tribute to the Bangladeshi community's contribution to East London, PTI reported.

The area is home to the biggest Bangladeshi community in the UK.
