Donald Trump's big shoutout to JD Vance's wife: 'Usha smarter than...'

Usha Vance has made history as the first non-white second lady of the United States.

While introducing his Vice President during the oath-taking ceremony,  US President Donald Trump on Monday said 'Usha Vance smarter than JD Vance'.

Vance (40) was sworn in as US Vice President, succeeding Kamala Harris. He is married to Usha Vance, an accomplished lawyer and the daughter of Indian immigrants,who has made history as the first non-white second lady of the United States. Usha made a stunning impression on Inauguration Day, dressed in a bubblegum pink outfit.

With a beaming smile, Usha lovingly watched JD Vance swear on the Bible during his swearing-in ceremony, never taking her eyes off him.

Her proud expression struck a chord with many on the internet, with some users expressing their emotions over the touching moment.

“Tell me you didn’t tear up seeing him take the oath of office with his wife, little kids and his mom by his side!!” wrote one user on X.

JD and Usha met as students at Yale Law School in the 2010s. They got married in 2014, a year after graduating from law school. The couple now shares three children together.

In his 2016 memoir Hillbilly Elegy, JD Vance spoke about the differences between him and his wife Usha. He described her as the “supersmart daughter of Indian immigrants,” while he himself was a “conservative hillbilly from Appalachia.

On Saturday, JD Vance and Usha hosted a dinner at the National Gallery of Art. The event, which doubled as a reception for Trump’s cabinet selections, seamlessly blended political significance with glamour.
