On May 9, a violent clash occurred between police forces and residents from the Dadyal area of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The protest erupted due to grievances over soaring inflation and frequent power outages. The confrontation resulted in numerous injuries, prompting Pakistani authorities to impose a curfew in the region, halting all activities. Before the escalation, demonstrators had cautioned against the use of force by Pakistani authorities. Political activist Amjad Ayub Mirza strongly condemned the incident, stressing that violence against peaceful protesters in PoK is unacceptable. Mirza further highlighted the outbreak of riots in Dadyal, where hundreds of protesters took to the streets, particularly in Tatapani.
