'Work-life balance? I’ll do it later': Entrepreneur’s 70-meeting week triggers online outrage

Despite the backlash, the entrepreneur chose not to retreat. Instead, he returned with a follow-up LinkedIn post—this time doubling down on his schedule and defending what he called the 'madness.'

The post quickly gained traction across social media platforms, drawing pointed criticism not only for its tone but also for promoting a culture of overwork under the guise of ambition.

In an era where digital connectivity has pushed professional ambition to unprecedented extremes, one Atlanta-based startup cofounder has ignited a firestorm of criticism after claiming he “collapsed” from exhaustion—only to retract it and proudly cite 31 weekend meetings as a badge of honour.

The entrepreneur took to LinkedIn to share a screenshot of his densely packed weekend calendar: “I had 31 meetings this weekend. I collapsed. Psych — mother didn’t raise no quitter. You want to stay ahead? You have to work when your competition is 'unplugging.' Steve Jobs didn’t take weekends off — neither do I. Work-life balance? Cool. I’ll balance later — after I win.”

The post quickly gained traction across social media platforms, drawing pointed criticism not only for its tone but also for promoting a culture of overwork under the guise of ambition.

Responses on both LinkedIn and Reddit were swift—and often scathing. One user sarcastically replied, “Win what? A divorce?” Another quipped, “That awkward moment when you realise 95% of those meetings could’ve been emails, during normal work hours, M–F.”

Reactions also unfolded on Reddit’s forum, r/LinkedInLunatics, a community known for skewering performative corporate posts.

“Meetings like this don’t make you effective. Quite the opposite,” one commenter observed. Another added, “Seems like he’s using meetings as an excuse to avoid doing actual work.”

A user wrote, “The only thing you’re winning at is being the biggest pain in the a** in those people’s lives.”

Despite the backlash, the entrepreneur chose not to retreat. Instead, he returned with a follow-up LinkedIn post—this time doubling down on his schedule and defending what he called the “madness.”

He shared another screenshot of a seemingly even fuller calendar and wrote: “People said I ‘had no life.’ They used my 70+ meeting Google Calendar as proof... But while they were criticising me from the sidelines, I was in the arena, getting my reps in.”

The cofounder went on to list what he described as tangible outcomes from his relentless work pace, claiming: A 25% conversion rate on sales calls
A doubling in sales cycle speed
A flood of referrals due to record-breaking customer satisfaction

“I’m not saying hustle porn is the answer. But I am saying mastery takes volume,” he concluded, appearing to equate success with sustained intensity and near-constant engagement.

Despite the entrepreneur’s defences, most online reactions remained sceptical, if not outright mocking.

“Damn, at this point, your entire life is a meeting,” one commenter responded. Another asked pointedly, “Shouldn’t you be in a call right now?”

Other users questioned the substance behind the endless stream of meetings, with one remarking that they appeared more like “Hey, I still exist, don’t forget about me” check-ins than meaningful business engagements.

While the cofounder framed his 70-hour workweek as a sign of discipline and entrepreneurial grit, much of the internet saw it differently—calling it a dangerous celebration of burnout.

As one Reddit user summarised: “This guy’s energy is crazier than a squirrel on triple espresso.”
