A Delhi-based woman stepped up in an emergency when her Uber driver fell ill mid-journey, taking control of the vehicle to ensure a safe continuation of the trip. Instead of panicking, she calmly took the wheel, an act that has since gained widespread attention on social media.
The woman, identified as Honey Pipal, was travelling with her daughter, mother, and grandmother from Gurugram when the incident occurred. In a video shared on Instagram, she recounted the turn of events, urging people to learn driving as a precaution for emergencies.
"My message to you all is please learn to drive for situations like these," she said. "If you know how to drive, you can help someone in need."
Pipal recalled that the driverbegan feeling unwell during the trip. As his condition worsened, she decided to take control of the car to prevent any potential mishap. Once the driver felt slightly better, she checked on his well-being before humorously asking for feedback on her driving skills. The driver responded with a smile, saying, "Badiya" (Excellent).
The video quickly went viral, drawing praise from social media users who commended her quick thinking and calm response. Many highlighted the importance of self-reliance and knowing how to drive in emergencies.
One user wrote, "This is exactly why basic driving skills should be taught to everyone. You never know when you might need them."
Another commented, "Kudos to this woman! Instead of panicking, she handled the situation like a pro."
A third person remarked, "Imagine if she didn’t know how to drive! This could have turned into a dangerous situation."
Others shared similar experiences, with one user stating, "I had a similar experience once, and it was terrifying. But knowing how to drive saved me."
Another wrote, "A big shoutout to her for staying calm and acting responsibly. Not everyone would do the same."
The incident has also sparked a wider conversation about passenger safety in ride-hailing services and the need for emergency preparedness. Some users questioned what passengers should do in similar situations if they are unable to drive, raising concerns over the lack of alternative safety measures in such scenarios.
