Meraj, who belongs to Lodhasa village, stated that his marriage to a woman named Naseemun began without any apparent issues.

A resident of Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh has filed an unusual petition alleging that his wife transforms into a snake during the night and attempts to attack him. The complaint, lodged by a man named Meraj during Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas (Complete Solution Day), has prompted district officials to order a formal investigation.

According to the petition addressed to the District Magistrate, Meraj wrote, “Sir, please save me from my wife. At night, she turns into a snake and bites us.” The plea was submitted publicly at the district-level grievance event, where citizens are encouraged to raise issues directly before administrative authorities.

Officials confirmed that the District Magistrate took note of the extraordinary allegation and directed that the matter be looked into. The claim has since spread rapidly across Sitapur, drawing widespread curiosity and disbelief among locals.

Meraj, who belongs to Lodhasa village, stated that his marriage to a woman named Naseemun began without any apparent issues. The couple were wed only a few months ago, and Naseemun hails from Rajpur village under the Thangaon police station limits.

In the beginning, relatives and neighbours reportedly believed the pair were adjusting well to married life. However, Meraj claimed that his wife’s behaviour began to change soon after the wedding. What initially seemed like minor disagreements, he alleged, escalated into increasingly alarming incidents that left him feeling unsafe within his own home.

In his complaint, Meraj alleged that his wife behaves erratically at night and “turns into a snake,” attempting to bite him. He further claimed that she suffers from psychological issues and often disturbs him while he sleeps by threatening or frightening him in the middle of the night.

He also stated that on some occasions he has avoided being bitten simply because he remained awake, asserting that his wife was “unable to attack him” when he did not fall asleep.

The allegations, though unverified, have puzzled both the authorities and the villagers. Officials have said an inquiry will be conducted to determine the facts of the case.

Reports suggest that Meraj sought help from a local exorcist before bringing his plea to officials, hoping to find a way to stop what he described as his wife’s “supernatural” transformation. A panchayat meeting was also held at Mahmudabad police station to discuss the matter, but no settlement was reached.

Currently, Naseemun is said to be residing with her parents in Rajpur.

The incident has become the focus of considerable attention in the community, with Meraj’s claim that his wife “changes into a snake” becoming the subject of local discussion and disbelief.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the unusual complaint.
