Ukrainian woman shares how life changed after 8 years of marriage to Indian man: 'So much joy'

A Ukrainian woman living in India has gone viral after sharing how her life transformed after marrying an Indian man. Viktoriia Chakraborty, who moved to India in 2017, posted a video on Instagram reflecting on the small but meaningful changes she’s embraced over the past eight years.

“Wait for it… Little changes after marrying an Indian man,” she wrote, before listing how sarees, festivals, and eating with hands have become part of her everyday life. “Saree has slowly become part of my wardrobe, I can’t imagine attending a wedding or other function without it,” she said.

“Eating traditional food with hands feels so natural now (and yes, it really tastes better that way). Festivals have become one of my favorite times of the year — the colors, lights, and celebrations always make me feel at home... Life doesn’t change overnight, but these small things add so much joy and belonging.”

‘No perfect plan, just love’: how she met her husband

In a separate post, Viktoriia shared how she met her husband online. “Me, a Ukrainian girl. Him, an Indian guy. No expectations, no pressure — just real, honest conversations," she wrote on Instagram, adding that despite time zones and cultural differences, the connection grew stronger.

“What began as texts turned into deep connection, laughter, late-night calls… and something we couldn’t ignore," Viktoriia said. She moved to India in 2017 and got married soon after.

“No long courtship, no perfect plan. Just love — raw, real, a little crazy, and 100 percent ours," she said. Now, eight years later, she says she wouldn’t change a thing.

“If I had to choose again? I’d still pick him. Every single time," Viktoriia concluded.
