A video of ticketless passengers ‘hijacking’ a second AC compartment aboard the Kumbh Express (12369) from Howrah Junction to Dehradun has gone viral online.

The now-viral video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by an Indian Forest Service officer Akash K. Verma. He informed that a friend had shared the clip. In the footage, several people were seen standing near the berths. According to Verma’s friends, the passengers were ticketless and were harassing others, occupying their seats and pulling the chain.

The video also featured police personnel trying to manage the situation.

“A friend travelling in train 12369 shared this video of AC 2 coach hijacked by ticketless encroachers who are harassing passengers, occupying their berths, pulling chain. Passengers mostly senior citizens. Need immediate sanitation,” the caption of the post read.

Since being shared online, the video has amassed over seven lakh views and a number of furious reactions from social media users. People also tagged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the comments section.

“Unfortunately, no one is there to listen. Recently, I travelled from BBSR TO JUNAGARH ROAD and there was no attendant in 2A coach. TTE caught hold of 2 railway staff and distributed bed rolls and after 2 hours, no one was there,” a user wrote.

Another user commented, “This is a huge problem @RailMinIndia @AshwiniVaishnaw ji.”

“Shocking,” a third user remarked.

“This is a regular scene in sleeper class and even in 3rd AC at times. But 2nd AC being hijacked is unheard off and it's getting out of hand now. Railway police needs to be deployed in every single train to get things in control,” a fourth user added.

Railway Seva also responded to the post and wrote, "Please share your PNR number and mobile no. preferably via DM to enable us to take immediate action."
