The ICC Cricket World Cup was a dream run for Team India, cricket fans, ESPN Star Sports and all the advertisers who backed it with their brands. The incredible high that comes with winning the World Cup will remain for sometime to come. The question is will this help or hamper the prospects of the IPL that started on Friday? Will viewer fatigue set in, will the cocktail of cricket and entertainment seem less noble, more tawdry compared to the World Cup or will cricket's most successful property grow even stronger? CNBC-TV18's Nikita Rana gets us the answers.

How the 10 IPL teams stack up

Season 4 of the IPL is underway and the ten teams including the new ones Pune Warriors and Kochi Tuskers have together mopped up some 80 brands between them and that includes 20 brands that are associating with the IPL for the first time, so 20 brands are making their debut in IPL Season 4. All team owners are eyeing a robust increase in sponsorship revenue - as new sponsorship deals are between 20% and 25% higher than last year
