Pet dog slips under moving train after owner tries to catch it forcefully: 'Some people don't deserve...'

The footage, recorded by an onlooker, showed a man trying to board a moving Rajdhani Express train with his golden retriever. As the train gathered speed, the panicked dog resisted, hesitating to jump into the coach. The owner, in his desperation to board, continued pulling the dog’s leash, attempting to lift it onto the train.

Reports indicate that railway officials were alerted, and the train guard activated the emergency chain.

Owning a pet is a deeply rewarding experience, but it also comes with significant responsibilities, particularly regarding their safety in public spaces. While many pet owners travel with their animals on trains, planes, and in crowded areas, ensuring both the well-being of their pets and the comfort of those around them is essential.

A recent incident at Jhansi railway station has brought this issue into sharp focus after a dog fell between a moving train and the platform, narrowly escaping what could have been a fatal accident. A video of the moment has since gone viral, sparking intense debate on social media.

However, the dog lost its footing, slipping into the narrow gap between the platform and the train, as shocked passengers watched in horror.

Reports indicate that railway officials were alerted, and the train guard activated the emergency chain, allowing railway workers to rescue the animal. Fortunately, both the dog and its owner emerged unscathed, and they were later able to resume their journey on the same train. However, Moneycontrol.com could not independently verify this claim.

The viral clip quickly drew widespread attention online, with users expressing relief that the dog survived while also criticising the owner for reckless behaviour.

"How is the dog? Did it survive?" one concerned user asked.

"Some people just don't deserve to have pets," another commented.

A user mocked the owner's actions: "This is dangerous enough to do with a human. Even the dog had more sense and tried to resist once he realised what was happening. This man is a front-runner for the 'World’s Largest Single-Celled Organism' Award 2025."

Another user was infuriated by the negligence, writing: "Keep that person away from pets."

While many condemned the owner, some came to his defence, arguing that the incident was an accident and that trolling him online was unnecessary.

"People are unnecessarily trolling and abusing this man on social media. Brothers, everyone makes mistakes; anyway, he did not intentionally harm the dog. Rather, he also tried to save it. The man was about to miss his train; that is why he was in a hurry, and the dog could not jump due to speed or fear. Those who show sympathy towards the dog should sometimes show sympathy towards humans too," one user wrote.

However, not everyone was convinced, with another stating: "I think the dog is safe, but the man must be in jail."

Despite the widespread attention, Indian Railways has not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
